A Night at the Races

When:                             6:00 pm  -- Saturday, October 1st, 2011

Where:                  White Oak Athletic Association

Admission:           $10 per person plus you own a horse

Contact Bill  412-889-5599 or via email whphil@comcast.net

Horse Owners:     Sponsor a horse for the event!  $10 per horse

Horse Owners need not be present to win.  If your horse is a winner, a check will be mailed directly to you from MHSSB.

Please mark your calendars!  Don’t wait too long to start mentioning to friends and family.  A dinner as well as snacks and deserts will be offered as part of admission, as well as beer on tap along with wine, plus B.Y.O.B is permitted.  Where else can you spend $10 for your evening out?  The evening is a lot of fun with a group of friends sharing a table.  Help spread the word!

*      Horses will be grouped in “races”, ten horses per race.

*      A “Race Program” will be made up listing the horse and its owner and distributed that night.

*      The “horse race” is a movie clip of an actual horse race and is shown on a wall at the WOAA.  Horses in the race are numbered 1 through 10.  The race announcer uses the names from the program – be original with those horse names!

*      Anyone attending that evening can place bets on horses in each race (need not own horses to bet).

*      Winners placing bets that evening are paid out after each race.

*      Winning horse owners can be paid out that evening or have a check mailed to them if they are not in attendance.

We will start with dinner and other refreshments at 6 pm.  We anticipate starting the horse races by 7pm.

Throughout the evening we will be having 50/50 raffles, strip ticket sales and Chinese auction baskets raffled.

If you haven’t been to a Night at the Races, please consider joining us.  This is a terrific adult evening out.  It’s a great time with a group of friends and it is our biggest fund raiser for the boosters.
